How I Got Into E-Commerce - You Can Too!

By: Scott McKirahan

I am often asked by customers how I got into the internet business and whether it is profitable. The answer is, I got lucky and hooked up with the right people from the start and yes, it is profitable.

There are a whole lot of scams out there involving making money from home via internet businesses. Most of them try to sell people on the concept of buying their expensive programs which will turn their computers into automatic cash machines. They claim that the only work people who buy their courses will ever have to do is make a trip to the bank every day, depositing thousand dollar checks. Fortunately, I am not naive enough to believe that there is any legal and legitimate way of making money that doesn't require some effort (thanks for that lesson, dad!).

I tried for a few years to figure it out on my own and made a couple of dollars here and there from affiliate commisions by promoting other peoples' websites but realized that the only way to make any kind of real money was by being the person who owned the website. I thought that if I could create a website that would generate a couple of hundred extra bucks every month, it would sure help ease the pressure of paying the bills.

I finally began searching online a year and a half ago for some sort of program or course that would show me how it was really done. I'm pretty good at sorting through the B.S. and certainly did a whole lot of research, looking for dirt on the programs that a lot of people are hawking out there. I automatically rejected any of them that talked about the millions I could instantly make. You've seen these people, I'm sure. They show a snapshot of a fancy car, yacht or house (sometimes all three) and make wild promises of instant riches. There is no way of knowing if these luxurious items even belong to these people (anyone can take a picture). The ratty clothes they wear or the sparse rooms with cheap blinds that they shoot their videos from are usually pretty good indicators of their true levels of success, however.

Instead, I looked for someone who was a straight shooter. I wanted someone who was willing to tell me that it would not be a "piece of cake" and that there would be some actual work involved. I narrowed it down to a couple of courses, did some further research into not only the courses, but the people who were selling them and finally decided to go with Niche Blueprint. Steve Clayton and Tim Godfrey have impeccable reputations!

The reason I chose Niche Blueprint is that their course seemed very comprehensive. Not only did it include the e-commerce store software, but it showed me exactly what steps to go through to find a product that I could make money with online. It also showed me precisely how to promote my site and climb the search engine listings. After all, building a great website and having a great product does you no good at all if nobody can find your website! Finally, I liked the fact that it was just a one-time fee for the course and software and that I could put up as many websites as I wanted to without paying them another dime.

Fortunately, I have a wife who is understanding and who believes in me. I was going to have to fork out around $500 for the course and things weren't lookiing real great economy or job-wise. I reasoned that the only way we were ever going to get ahead was by trying something new. I told her it could be my birthday and Christmas present combined for the year. She said that if I truly believed I could do it and if I believed in the people behind the product to go for it. It was the best $500 I ever spent! (By the way, you can get it for a little less money now.)

Six months later, my position at the company I was working for was eliminated and I was out of a job. I was making a little money from my first website but obviously needed a lot more. Since I now had the time to fully devote my efforts toward building my internet business, I threw myself full time into it (there were no jobs to be had so I had no other choice). I put up a second website and then a third. Then, just as we were getting close to losing everything, the extra effort started paying off. Suddenly, every day there were orders coming in. Each week was better than the previous one. I had turned the corner at last!

I now have four websites, am by no means rich and don't really know if I care to be. I can say, however, that I have more than replaced the income from any job I have ever had - not a lot more, but certainly more. I see how people can get fairly wealthy by putting in the effort, though. I would like to be even more financially secure, of course. With the uncertain economy, it's nice knowing that I now know the path to take to provide for myself. I already have plans for a few more websites; the possibilities are truly endless!

I no longer need to rely on someone else for a job and it's certainly nice not having to answer to anyone. I have the flexibility to do what I want, when I want to. The bottom line is that you really can Make money online - Work from home - Niche Blueprintmake money online. It will take real effort; though, everything in life worth having does. You won't get rich overnight and may never get rich at all. You can make at least as much money as you are probably making at your current job, though.

If learning something new doesn't scare you and you would like to learn more about how you can start your own online business, you can get more information about Niche Blueprint here!
